During a recent live conversation, Ranbir Kapoor was criticised for making an “insensitive” remark about Alia Bhatt’s weight gain. Alia revealed her pregnancy in June via an Instagram post that included a picture of the couple. Brahmastra, Alia, and Ranbir’s first collaborative effort will be released soon. On Thursday, while promoting the fantasy drama, Ranbir remarked on Alia’s weight gain while she was pregnant. Some others on social media questioned the actor’s sense of humour and called Alia’s body shaming “distasteful.”

Ranbir and Alia were recently spotted talking about the reasons they aren’t doing more to promote their movie Brahmastra. Ayan Mukerji, the film’s director, joined them. Fan accounts on Instagram, Reddit, and other social media sites posted a clip of their discussion in which Ranbir was heard interrupting Alia as she talked about attending Brahmastra promotions.

We’ll do it, Alia had said (promote the film extensively). If you’re wondering why we haven’t “phailoed” (spread) everywhere, then… Our current priority is…” when Ranbir Kapoor interjected, “Well, I can see somebody has phailoed,” as he peered at Alia’s growing belly. Ranbir patted Alia on the back and joked after she appeared stunned. In the video, Alia can be seen sporting a loose, colourful T-shirt and a pair of yellow shorts.

A person on Instagram said in response to the video, “This is awful to see.” Someone else remarked, “That wasn’t at all funny.” Alia deserves more, one fan commented, calling it a “disgusting joke.” That was a nasty prank to tell to a pregnant woman, another fan wrote. It was disgusting and immature, another person added.
“Honestly, I don’t want to pick apart and criticise Ranbir and Alia every time, but main kya karoon,” a user commented in response to a Reddit post (what can I do).

Ranbir, why did you feel the need to make such an offensive remark live on air? She appears to be struggling with her body image and is quite pregnant; give her space.” It isn’t even a funny joke, said another commenter. The majority of women already struggle to accept the physical changes that pregnancy brings about; making light of it is plain rude.”

At their Mumbai residence on April 14, 2022, Alia and Ranbir got married. A teaser for the Brahmastra song Dance Ka Bhoot was just released. The eagerly anticipated movie is due out on September 9. Additionally, it features important roles for performers like Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna, and Mouni Roy.
