Kangana Ranaut is one of the most popular names in the Hindi film industry. The actress has made a name for herself with powerful performances and  bold statements. According to the latest reports, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) may field her from the Mandi Lok Sabha seat in Himachal Pradesh in the upcoming General elections.

This, however, is yet to be to officially confirmed.

There are four Lok Sabha seats in Himachal Pradesh namely Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur, and Shimla. The ‘Saffron Party’ has already finalised its candidates for Hamirpur and Shimla. It is expected to do the same for the remaining seats in the coming weeks.

Kangana Ranaut made her Bollywood debut with ‘Gangster’ (2006), impressing fans with her intense performance. She soon consolidated her standing in the industry with her work in films such as ‘Queen’, ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, and ‘Woh Lamhe’. In 2016, she became the talk of the town with her comments about nepotism in Bollywood.

Kangana Ranaut made her debut as a director with ‘Manikarnika’. She also won her fourth National Award for her performance in the period drama. She also tasted success as a producer with the Nawazuddin Siddiqui-led ‘Tiku Weds Sheru’.

Kangana had her share of setbacks as well. Most of her recent releases, including ‘Chandramukhi 2’ and the actioner ‘Tejas’, underperformed at the box office. She will be hoping to bounce back with ‘Emergency’, which features her as Indira Gandhi. The biographical drama is directed by the actress herself and has piqued the curiosity of fans with compelling posters.

The cast includes Anupam Kher as Jayaprakash Narayan, Shreyas Talpade as Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Vishak Nair as Sanjay Gandhi, and the late Satish Kaushik as Jagjivan Ram. ‘Emergency’ is set to hit screens on June 14.
