Ranveer Singh's Jayeshbhai Jordaar cleared for release by Delhi HC

The court has ordered the makers of the film to add a relevant disclaimer for the scene during the opening sequence of the film, as well as, for the film’s trailers on all platforms.

Ranveer Singh-starrer Jayeshbhai Jordaar has been cleared by the Delhi High Court for release after hearing a petition seeking the removal of a scene depicting a pre-natal sex determination test. The court has ordered the makers of the film to add a relevant disclaimer for the scene during the opening sequence of the film, as well as, for the film’s trailers on all platforms.

According to a Bar and Bench report, the court’s order stated, “We have also perused the trailer and also the relevant scenes from the movie. We had suggested certain further disclaimers to be displayed in the trailer and also in the movie when the scenes in relation to ultrasound scene and another connected scene is depicted. The learned senior counsel, without prejudice to his submissions, has agreed to depict a further static warning/disclaimer to be depicted during the running of both the scenes.”

The matter was heard by a bench of the Delhi HC headed by acting Chief Justice Vipin Sangh. The film has received certification from the Indian Board of Film Certification (IBFC) and is slated for release on May 13. The court had earlier demanded a screening of the relevant scene and warned of staying the release upon failing to do so.
