This demolition came amid 11 people who were detained in a major crackdown in Assam for their alleged links with global terror outfits including AQIS and ABT. From 28th to 29th July, we detained two Jihadi Modules in the Barpeta and Morigoan districts of Assam. This action was a coordinated effort and we expect to retrieve a lot of information from these arrests. CM Sarma had said.
The authorities have found eight people including Mustafa who holds a doctorate in Islamic Law which he obtained from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh in 2017. The alleged convicts have been sent to nine days of police custody, said Amitava Sinha, Superintendent of Police, Barpeta.
According to police, the activities of Mustafa’s Madrasa were funded by illicit activities, hence the Madrasa was taken down. The ABT has active links with Al-Qaeda in Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS).

Apart from Mustafa, the police also detained Afsaruddin Bhuyan hailing from Morigoan, and Abbas Ali from Goalpara used to provide shelter and logistics to one of the fugitive members namely Mehbubur Rehman.
