After discovering that a Madarsa in the Barpeta region was located on government property and was therefore potentially engaged in anti-national activities, the Assam government dismantled it on Monday.
According to the Additional Deputy Commissioner, the area is home to Jihadi organisations and anti-national activities.
ADC Lachit Kumar Das stated “This institution participates in anti-national and Jihadi organisations. We arrived on the scene right away, checked the property, and discovered that it was on government land, but we were unable to locate the owner. Therefore, we decided to promptly demolish it.”
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma addressed the situation and said that the Madarsa management was actually running a terrorist hub rather than the actual institution.
“This is the second Madrasa that we have removed because it was serving as a terrorist hotspot rather than an institution. I don’t want to generalise, but if a fundamentalist complaint is received, we look into it and take the necessary measures “explained Sarma.
Earlier on Monday, Assam Police detained two additional individuals in the Barpeta district who had ties to both Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT) and Al-Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
In Assam, 37 people have so far been detained in connection with AQIS-ABT.
