Over political horse-trading, Jharkhand Congress chairman Rajesh Thakur dubbed the Bharatiya Janata Party ‘Bacha Chor.’ “Our legislators were not leaving… The BJP destabilises non-BJP state administrations in the country, and we constantly take measures because they (the BJP) are like kid thieves (Bacha Chor). Over political horse-trading, Jharkhand Congress chairman Rajesh Thakur dubbed the Bharatiya Janata Party ‘Bacha Chor.’

“Our legislators were not leaving… The BJP destabilises non-BJP state administrations in the country, and we constantly take measures because they (the BJP) are like kid thieves (Bacha Chor). We used to hear about a kid thief coming to steal them away. As a result, we must exercise caution “Rajesh Thakur, President of the Jharkhand Congress, was questioned if the UPA gained confidence following the trust vote and permitted MLAs to return home.

“In the house, we demonstrated our majority and power. There was not a single vote opposing the motion of confidence. This demonstrates that the opposition has accepted and silently approved the majority of the coalition administration “Thakur continued.

Thakur’s statements came after Chief Minister Hemant Soren won the Assembly’s trust vote on Monday and lambasted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for inciting civil war and violence in order to win elections.

Soren introduced a motion of confidence in the Assembly on Monday, amid political instability in the state.

Following the confidence vote, all MPs, including the Chief Minister, returned to the Circuit House.

The parliamentarians returned to Ranchi a day ago after spending several days in Chhattisgarh’s capital Raipur. According to sources, 13 members of the Congress, including four ministers, and 18 members of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha travelled to Raipur (JMM). Soren had met with the parliamentarians in the Circuit House on Sunday night.

In the midst of Jharkhand’s political instability, Soren also attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), accusing them of political horse-trading and claiming that they just “buy and sell MLAs.”

“They just purchase and sell MLAs, whereas we work for the people and do not engage in horse-trading. People will respond to people in politics who do business “Soren said.

Meanwhile, Congress leader and Health Minister Banna Gupta said on Saturday that a plot was developed to disrupt the state administration.

The ruling alliance contains 30 Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) MLAs, 18 Congress MLAs, and one Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA in the 81-member Jharkhand Assembly (RJD).

Notably, a political crisis erupted in Jharkhand after the BJP filed a petition seeking Soren’s removal from the Assembly in an office of profit issue.

The BJP has sought Soren’s removal as an MLA, alleging him of awarding a mining lease to himself while holding the state Mining portfolio in 2021.

In February of this year, the BJP wrote to state Governor Ramesh Bais, requesting that Soren be removed from the House under Section 9(A) of the Representation of People’s Act.

The Governor sent the BJP complaint to the ECI, which issued a notice to the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha leader in May.
