Two MoUs signed between India, Bangladesh to deepen inter-governmental railway co-operation

This follows the multi-sectoral scoping delegation from Indian Railways’ visit to Bangladesh in April 2022 and their recent meeting on June 1, 2022, between the Indian and Bangladeshi railway ministers. On September 6, 2022, Sheikh Hasina, the prime minister of Bangladesh, visited India. During her visit, these Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) were exchanged.

“Training of Bangladesh Railway Employees in the Training Institute of Indian Railways” and “Collaboration in IT Systems such as FOIS and other IT applications for Bangladesh Railway” are among the two MoUs that were signed.

The goal of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) pertaining to the training of Bangladesh Railway Employees is to provide a framework for collaboration and to make it easier for Bangladesh Railway Employees to get training at Indian Railway Training Institutes, including field trips.

This will entail planning, organising, and running seminars, workshops, and training sessions in the classroom and outdoors. Additionally, when needed, Indian Railways will work with representatives of the Bangladeshi government’s ministry of railways, visiting and helping to establish and improve training facilities there and meeting educational standards.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) relating to the collaboration of IT systems will be for all aspects of computerization like passenger ticketing, freight operations and control office, train inquiry system, digitization of asset management, HR and Finance infrastructure in Bangladesh Railway, Ministry of Railway, Government of India, will offer IT solutions to Bangladesh Railway through Centre for Railway Information System (CRIS).
