Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is likely to visit Delhi on September 5 and meet opposition leaders, including Congress’ Rahul Gandhi, in an effort to unite them in their opposition to the BJP in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

According to Janata Dal (United) officials, Mr. Kumar is also scheduled to meet with Arvind Kejriwal, the leader of the AAP and the chief minister of Delhi, as well as other Left leaders.

On Saturday and Sunday in Patna, the JD(U) will hold its two-day national executive and national council meeting. According to the sources, the party is expected to give Mr. Kumar permission to speak with opposition leaders in order to unite them on one platform for the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

After severing ties with the BJP and joining the RJD-Congress-Left alliance to form a new government in the state, this will be Mr. Kumar’s first visit to the capital.

Tyagi said Kumar would also meet leaders of about six regional parties besides the Congress in Delhi.

Meanwhile, Rajiv Ranjan the national president of the JD(U), alias Lalan Singh, said that the BJP leader and Union home minister Amit Shah’s proposed visit to Bihar later this month was aimed at disturbing communal harmony in the state.
