Shikhar Dhawan, a batsman, will represent India in the next ODI series against South Africa at home, according to sources with the Board of Control for Cricket in India.


Dhawan will take over as captain since players who are headed to the T20 World Cup are expected to receive respite, according to the sources. This year, Australia will host the ninth instalment of the ICC T20 World Cup from October 16 to November 13.


In addition, they said that VVS Laxman, in place of head coach Rahul Dravid, is likely to remain with the squad as a coach.

Starting on September 28, India will play three T20Is and one ODI against South Africa.


The opening T20I will take place on September 28 in Thiruvananthapuram. On October 2, 2022, Gandhi Jayanti, the second T20I would be played in Guwahati to commemorate the anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi’s birth. On October 4, the final T20I will be played in Indore.


The ODI series will begin on October 6 in Lucknow, where the action will thereafter switch. Shikhar Dhawan will captain the team. The second and third ODIs will be held at Ranchi and Delhi, respectively, on October 9 and 11.
