Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh – Eleven individuals, including five policemen, were injured in an incident involving an ‘anti-demo’ vehicle from the district administration colliding with parked vehicles on the roadside in Lucknow on Saturday evening.
The mishap took place around 7:45 pm, according to officials familiar with the situation. An initial inquiry suggested that a dog had strayed onto the road, prompting the interceptor vehicle leading the convoy to swerve to avoid it. This information was communicated to the vehicles trailing behind.
However, the ‘anti-demo’ vehicle, which precedes the Chief Minister’s convoy to clear the route of any potential protests, was following the interceptor vehicle when one of its wheels accidentally ran over the dog.
Lucknow Joint Commissioner of Police (Law & Order) Upendra Agarwal, speaking to the media after the incident, explained, “The driver lost control of the vehicle, resulting in it colliding with two parked vehicles and individuals standing by the roadside.”
Thankfully, there were no reported fatalities. “Five policemen and six civilians sustained injuries in the accident and have been taken to the hospital. There have been no fatalities. The convoy remains secure,” added the senior police officer.
In response to the incident, a swift reaction ensued. DGP Prashant Kumar, DM Lucknow, Commissioner Lucknow, and other senior officials, accompanied by forces from multiple police stations, promptly arrived at the Civil Hospital to visit the injured individuals and oversee the situation.
