Chief Minister M.K. Stalin will launch the Congress’ ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra,’ on September 7, which will be led by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, in Kanniyakumari.

Stalin, according to Tamil Nadu Congress Committee President K.S. Alagiri, will kick off the rally before a massive public meeting in Kanniyakumari. Mr. Stalin will launch the rally by handing over the Indian flag to Mr. Gandhi at the Mahatma Gandhi Statue. However, the Chief Minister stated that he will not be attending the public meeting.

Mr. Alagiri stated that leaders of the Secular Progressive Alliance will attend the rally on different days.
“The Constitution is under attack today.” To unite the people, we must save the Constitution,” he said, adding that the message will be delivered to Tamil Nadu residents from September 11 to December 28.

“A meeting of AICC general secretaries/in charges, OCC presidents, and state coordinators of Bharat Jodo Yatra is scheduled to be held on Monday at 4 pm at the AICC Headquarters, 24 Akbar Road, New Delhi, to discuss the preparations for the 3570-km-long Bharat Jodo Yatra scheduled to start from Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu, on the 7th September 2022,” an official notice from AICC read.

The march will end in Kashmir after 148 days. The five-month Yatra is expected to cover 3,500 kilometres and more than 12 states. Every day, the Padyatra (march) will cover a distance of 25 kilometres.

The Yatra will consist of padayatras, rallies, and public meetings attended by senior Congress leaders such as Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The Congress suffered humiliation in earlier this year’s assembly elections, and the Yatra is seen as an attempt to rally the party’s rank and file for the upcoming electoral battles.
The ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ will be launched on September 7 from Kanyakumari by Congress MP Rahul Gandhi among the senior leaders of Tamil Nadu Congress.
