Hemant Soren, the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, will seek for a vote of confidence during the special session of the Assembly on Monday.

A political crisis has been observed in Jharkhand as the BJP filed a petition asking for Soren’s disqualification from the Assembly due to claims of having an office for profit. The Election Commission (EC) handed its decision to Governor Ramesh Bais on August 25.

In response to fears over poaching, JMM and its allies relocated their MLAs to a resort in Congress-ruled Chhattisgarh last week. The MLAs came back to Ranchi from Raipur on Sunday for a special session on Monday. On Sunday, CM Hemant Soren expressed confidence in his ability to prove the state’s majority, saying that the BJP will soon find itself “trapped in its own trap.”

Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahato said, “Governments are formed bannnnnn numbers parties have…The one-day Assembly session is being called for the completion of business that was left incomplete in the previous session. There’s no political crisis in Jharkhand”.

The state cabinet approved the proposal for a one-day special Assembly session to be held on September 5 on Thursday. The declaration followed a meeting between a delegation of United Progressive Alliance (UPA) MLAs and Governor Ramesh Bais, who was asked to state the Election Commission’s opinion on Chief Minister Hemant.
