India and UAE Education Ministers sign MoU to boost educational cooperation

As per the Ministry of Education, “The Ministers signed an MoU to strengthen existing educational cooperation, facilitate student and faculty mobility .”

On Wednesday in Abu Dhabi, Union Education and Skill Development as well as Entrepreneurship Minister Dharmendra Pradhan held a meeting with Dr Ahmad Al Falasi, the Minister of Education of the UAE.

As per the Ministry of Education, “The Ministers signed an MoU to strengthen existing educational cooperation, facilitate student and faculty mobility and undertake various other initiatives. The minister also visited 42 Abu Dhabi, a school for disruptive learning.
“During the meeting, a significant MoU was signed by the ministers. The MoU aims to strengthen the existing cooperation in the field of educational institutions in both countries by facilitating student and faculty mobility, joint research programs, designing courses, organizing and participating in conferences, lectures, symposia, courses, scientific and educational exhibitions in areas of mutual interest held in both countries,” the Ministry of Education said.

Additionally, the agreement will streamline the sharing of information regarding regulations, legal frameworks, and overall best practices in the fields of general and higher education in both nations. The establishment of comprehensive frameworks and policies in general and higher education, such as national qualification frameworks, is crucial for enabling the mutual acknowledgment of qualifications between the two countries.

The promotion of academic partnerships between higher education institutions in both nations, including the implementation of twinning, joint degree, and dual degree programs, is also a key objective of the agreement. Furthermore, the memorandum envisions collaboration in enhancing the capabilities of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) instructors.

“The MoU will facilitate the creation of a Joint Working Group chaired by a representative of the Ministry of Education from India and the UAE. The JWG shall meet at least once a year alternately to review the implementation of this memorandum,” the Ministry added.

In his discussion with his UAE counterpart, Pradhan emphasized the significance of forging a knowledge bridge to solidify the deep-rooted cultural ties between the two nations, citing the UAE’s status as a global economic hub and India’s position as a global talent hub.

The Ministers assessed the ongoing educational and skill development collaborations, particularly focusing on the advancements discussed during their previous meeting at the 4th EdWG during the G20 summit in India. They expressed contentment regarding the headway achieved in terms of the mutual recognition of academic and skill-based qualifications, as well as the acknowledgment of Indian educational institutions in the UAE. They also highlighted the necessity for continuous efforts in this domain. Both ministers reiterated their dedication to fortifying institutional mechanisms and expediting processes to ensure seamless mobility for students and the workforce.
