Police in Jammu and Kashmir announced the arrest of ten people for anti-national sloganeering and stone-pelting outside Yasin Malik’s residence today.

“Prior to Yasin Malik’s sentencing in Maisuma yesterday, ten people were arrested for anti-national sloganeering and stone-pelting outside his residence. Meanwhile, situation in the rest of the state remained calm” stated Srinagar Police.

The remaining defendants in the case are being identified and will be detained soon.

The police later added “A case has been filed under the UAPA and the IPC. The principal perpetrators of this riot will face charges under the Public Safety Act.”

Yasin Malik, a separatist leader from Jammu and Kashmir, was sentenced to life in prison by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court on Wednesday in a terror funding case.

Malik was sentenced to life in jail and was also fined Rs 10 lakh by the NIA court. He was twice sentenced to life in prison (one for waging war against the nation and one in UAPA sec 17 raising fund for terror act).
