As the cold wave persisted in Delhi, dense fog was seen. The India Meteorological Department had earlier on Monday forecasted cold day/severe cold day conditions for Delhi.
IMD had stated in a bulletin at 3:30 pm on Monday that “Cold Day/Severe Cold Day Conditions quite possible in some sections over Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, and West Rajasthan and cold day conditions in isolated pockets over Uttarakhand on 26th and 27th December 2022.”
The meteorological service had also anticipated severe to extremely dense fog in Delhi and the surrounding areas.
The IMD stated on Monday that “Dense to Very Dense Fog is very likely to linger over various portions of Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh & Delhi and West Rajasthan for the next 48 hours due to the existing weak wind and heavy moisture in lower tropospheric levels.”
The nation’s capital, New Delhi, struggled with a cold wave and hazy weather earlier on Monday. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi had a minimum temperature of 5.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday while much of northern India had temperatures between 3 and 7 degrees Celsius.
