On Wednesday, a 16-year-old boy was discovered hanging from the ceiling fan of his classroom at a private college in Telangana’s Rangareddy district. The deceased boy was identified as Nagula Satwik, according to the police, who added that his parents accused foul play, claiming that his death was the result of torture perpetrated on him by the private college’s management.

“It appears that the boy hung himself at 10.30pm on Wednesday, after attending his classes. He was an intermediate student at a private college in Narsingi.”

“It is too early to determine why the boy took this extreme step. However, his parents have alleged that the death might be the fallout of the torture that he was subjected to by the management at the private college. We have registered a case under Section 305 (abetment to suicide) of the IPC and an investigation is underway,” the officer said.

According to sources, after learning about the incident, members of the student union and the boy’s family staged a protest on a road in Narsingi. A police team rushed to the scene and began breaking up the protest, according to a source.

Earlier on Saturday, a final-year MBBS student at Nizamabad Government Medical College committed suicide inside her hostel room, according to police. Dasari Harsha was the name of the deceased student.

In another incident reported on Tuesday, a third-year BTech student at a private engineering college was discovered dead at her relative’s home. According to police, two people have been arrested in connection with the death.
