A ‘hybrid’ terrorist from the banned terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was apprehended by the Indian Army’s 34 RR unit in the Jammu and Kashmir town of Budgam on Sunday, authorities said.
Arshid Ahmad Bhat, a native of Sangam Budgam, has been identified as the apprehended suspect. The arrests were made in Lawaypura by a joint squad of Srinagar Police and 2RR.
Incriminating items were also confiscated, including 5 firearms, 5 magazines, and 50 bullets.
The terrorist also had two hand grenades retrieved from him.
Shalteng Police Station has opened an investigation.
On May 1, another ‘hybrid’ terrorist of the outlawed terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) was apprehended by the Indian Army’s 34 RR unit, in collaboration with Kulgam Police in Kashmir.
According to authorities, the apprehended LeT terrorist was in communication with both Pakistani and local LeT terrorists and was charged with carrying out terror attacks.
The hybrid terrorist was also involved in providing refuge, logistics, and other assistance to the terrorists, including delivering the terrorists’ weaponry, ammo, and explosive material in district Kulgam.
According to the Kashmir police, the terrorist apprehended has been named as Yamin Yousaf Bhat, a resident of Kulgam’s Gadihama.
According to authorities, incriminating evidence including a handgun, one magazine, two hand grenades, and 51 (9 mm) pistol rounds were seized.
An FIR has been filed against the alleged terrorist in Kulgam Police Station under relevant provisions of the law, and an inquiry into the event is ongoing.
The arrest of the Hybrid terrorist is a major accomplishment for Kulgam Police since the terrorist was well-versed in the terrain of the district, making it simple for him to select soft targets.
He was also in communication with terrorists headquartered in PoK and was acting under their command and supervision. The police predict further arrests and recoveries in the current investigation.
