President Droupadi Murmu embarked on a three-day state visit to Mauritius on Monday, where she received a warm welcome from Prime Minister Pravind Jugnauth at the airport with full honors.

Randhir Jaiswal, the official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, shared the news of President Murmu’s arrival on social media, highlighting the strong ties between India and Mauritius.

As a significant highlight of her visit, President Murmu will serve as the Chief Guest at Mauritius’ National Day celebrations, marking a new milestone in the enduring friendship between the two nations.

Being the sixth Indian President to grace Mauritius’ National Day as the Chief Guest since 2000, President Murmu’s visit underscores the longstanding and robust ties between India and Mauritius. It reflects the commitment of both countries to further strengthening their bilateral relationship across various sectors and deepening people-to-people ties, as stated by the Ministry of External Affairs.

President Murmu’s itinerary includes bilateral meetings with Mauritian President Prithvirajsing Roopun and Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, along with engagements with other key Mauritian leaders. She will also participate in the inauguration of 14 India-assisted projects, aiming to showcase the expanding scope and diverse nature of India’s vibrant development partnership with Mauritius.

Furthermore, President Murmu will witness the exchange of important bilateral agreements aimed at enhancing bilateral institutional collaboration and capacity-building cooperation between the two countries.

Additionally, she will address Mauritian youth, socio-cultural organizations, members of the Indian diaspora, and the Indian community during her visit, reinforcing India’s unwavering commitment to its partnership with Mauritius.
