Elon Musk announced that xAI’s chatbot, Grok, will now be accessible to all premium subscribers of the social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter. This decision comes after Musk previously mentioned that xAI would open-source Grok, following a legal dispute with OpenAI over its alleged deviation from its original mission towards a for-profit model.

The announcement was made via a post on X, although further details were not disclosed. Previously, Grok was only available to Premium+ subscribers.

With a growing number of advertisers shifting away from the microblogging platform, Musk has emphasized the importance of reducing reliance on advertising revenue and focusing on more appealing subscription plans.

By open-sourcing Grok, xAI aims to provide the public with free access to experiment with the underlying code of the technology. This move aligns xAI with other companies like Meta and France’s Mistral, which have embraced open-source AI models.
