During the clash against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the second-fastest Indian to reach 3,000 runs in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Gill surpassed RCB star Virat Kohli’s record to become the youngest batter to reach 3000 runs in the Indian Premier League. Gill achieved this milestone in only 94 innings, placing him as the fourth-fastest batter to accomplish this feat in the IPL.

Gill achieved this feat in his 94th innings, jointly holding the third-fastest position with Delhi Capitals (DC) opener David Warner. Before the RR match, Gill had amassed 2973 runs from 93 innings, boasting an average of 38.12 and a strike rate of 134.83. He had also registered three centuries and 19 half-centuries in the tournament. The 24-year-old reached the 3,000-run mark in IPL when he scored his 27th run against RR, taking a single off Yuzvendra Chahal on the penultimate ball of the 8th over.

Chris Gayle holds the record for being the fastest player to accumulate 3000 runs in the IPL, achieving the milestone in just 75 innings. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) captain KL Rahul stands second, reaching the landmark in 80 innings. Previously, Gill also became the first player to surpass 1500 runs for Gujarat Titans during their game against Punjab Kings at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on April 04.

Apart from representing Gujarat Titans, Gill has also played for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and is the only player to have scored a century for Gujarat Titans. His three centuries, all achieved last season, significantly contributed to his team reaching the summit clash. He also secured the orange cap with 890 runs in 17 innings. In the ongoing 17th edition of the IPL, the GT captain has scored 183 runs in five matches, averaging 45.75 with an impressive strike rate of 147.58. He has also registered a half-century.
