Delhi Minister Gopal Rai accuses BJP of running away from Manipur issue

“Even in Parliament, PM Modi was forced to speak on the Manipur after a no-confidence resolution was moved, and he still spoke for just 2 mins” said Gopal Rai.

Delhi Minister Gopal Rai on Thursday targetted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the Manipur issue and said that they have nothing to speak on the violence-hit northeastern state. Gopal Rai said,” They are running away from the Manipur issue since Day 1. It has been three months now since the violence erupted in the state but still the atmosphere is tense in the state. Even in Parliament, PM Modi was forced to speak on the Manipur after a no-confidence resolution was moved, and he still spoke for just 2 mins.”  
The Delhi Legislative Assembly on Thursday is discussing the Manipur issue today. and the Delhi Chief Minister is also expected to speak on the issue. 

According to the listed legislative business for the House for Thursday, MLAs Durgesh Pathak, Vinay Mishra and Kuldeep Kumar will initiate a short-duration discussion on the issue of disturbances in Manipur and the atrocities being faced by the people there.
Speaking on the likely discussions in the House over the Manipur issue, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said, “This is a concerning issue not only for our country but for the whole world.”
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his Independence Day address from the ramparts of Red Fort on Tuesday, appealed for peace in strife-torn Manipur saying that people across the country stand with the people of the Northeast state.
“The whole country stands with the people of Manipur. Peace is the only way to resolve all disputes. The Centre and the Manipur government are making every effort to ensure that peace returns to the state at the earliest,” PM Modi said.
The violence in the Northeast state has claimed over 100 lives while displacing thousands more.
