The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will search Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia’s bank vault on Tuesday in connection with the excise policy controversy.
According to Sisodia, the investigation agency will investigate his account and locker at his bank’s branch on Tuesday.
“They will be inspecting the locker tomorrow. They found nothing throughout the day-long raid as well. They would also not discover anything in the lockers. The CBI is ready for it and will provide all assistance “On Monday, Sisodia tweeted.
Bank lockers will be searched as part of the investigation. According to news source IANS, it will have to be noted in the chargesheet.
The CBI has launched a FIR against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and 15 other persons and businesses as part of an inquiry into suspected irregularities in the execution of the Delhi excise policy.
The FIR was lodged by the CBI under Indian Penal Code Sections 120-B (Criminal Conspiracy) and 477-A (Falsification of Accounts).
There is an accusation against Sisodia that liquor traders received a Rs 30 crore exemption. License holders are said to have been granted extensions at their own discretion. The policy rules were purportedly established by violating excise regulations.
According to the FIR, “Manish Sisodia, Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Arva Gopi Krishna, the then Commissioner (Excise), Anand Tiwari, the then Deputy Commissioner (Excise), and Pankaj Bhatnagar, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) were instrumental in recommending and taking decisions pertaining to excise policy for the year 2021-22 without the approval of competent authority with an intention to extend undue favours to the licencees post tender
On August 19, the federal investigative agency searched 31 places, including Sisodia’s house, as part of its inquiry into suspected irregularities in the Delhi government’s Excise Policy 2021-22.
During a special session of the Delhi Assembly on Friday, Sisodia stated that the CBI inspected his and his children’s clothes during the 14-hour raid at his residence, but found nothing.
“The FIR filed against me is absolutely fabricated. I have not cheated anyone…. They (the BJP) are murdering state governments like serial killers. The money spent on assassinating state governments should have been used to develop schools and hospitals “Sisodia said.
Manish Sisodia has stated that he was unfairly implicated in a case in order to curb Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s march as an alternative to Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the next Lok Sabha elections in 2024.
