Foreign Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended an Iftar hosted by UAE Ambassador Abdulnasser Alshaali during the holy month of Ramzan on Saturday.

“Joined the Iftar hosted by UAE Ambassador @aj_alshaali at @UAEembassyIndia this evening. Ramadan Kareem!” tweeted Jaishankar. The bilateral relationship between the two countries has only strengthened over the years, with UAE becoming one of India’s most significant strategic partners in the West Asian region.

Through high-level official visits, both countries have made significant diplomatic efforts to deepen their bilateral relationship. The two countries’ leaders continue to have a cordial relationship.

The recent I2U2 conference, which involved a collaboration between India, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States, only emphasises the two countries’ strategic convergence.

The summit’s vision statement emphasised green investment into India by the UAE, with technology backing from Israel and the US, as a win-win situation for all. It would include investments in renewable energy as well as in land and water conservation.

On the economic front, India and the UAE have the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which would deepen the two developing economic powers’ economic ties. The goal is to increase bilateral trade between the two countries from USD 60 billion to USD 100 billion.

India and the UAE have shown their willingness to collaborate in a variety of domains, including food security, health, skill development, education, defence, and space.
