Elon Musk hailed Indian-American lawmaker Vivek Ramaswamy on August 18, calling him a “very promising candidate” who would take on Donald Trump in the Republican primary for president.
Elon Musk commented of the potential candidate, “He is a very promising candidate,” on X (formerly Twitter).

Ramaswamy, meanwhile, has been very clear about his plans for the election campaign.

He said that China is the “biggest threat” to the US and that, if elected, he would pursue “total de-coupling” with Beijing.
The Republican leader also said that he intends to fully reenter Pacific commerce as well as establish commercial ties with nations like South Korea, Japan, and India.

Ramaswamy in an interview said, “Xi Jinping is the dictator and China is the top threat that the United States faces. I think I am the clearest candidate in declaring a clear path in declaring economic independence from China. That would be the first step in our policy”.

“I would go for total de-coupling. I would ban most US companies from doing business with China, unless and until the CCP reforms its behaviour…I think there would be short-term consequences, but I think we can make sacrifices if we know what we are sacrificing for. I also think that when you are most willing to make a sacrifice, you actually do not have to make one at all,” Ramaswamy said.

Along with Nikki Haley and Hirsh Vardhan Singh, he is the third Indian-American who will face off against former US President Donald Trump in the primaries in January of the next year.
