Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, emphasised the Startup India Initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi while on a six-day trip to San Francisco and Los Angeles. He also urged the Indian diaspora to broaden its horizons by entering international markets.

He remarked during the luncheon engagement with the “Indiaspora,” “The “Startup India Initiative,” introduced by Prime Minister Modi in 2016, was a recognition of the rising significance of innovation, of young people experimenting with new ideas and developing novel solutions. The Indian diaspora has a significant part to play in this endeavour since they identify talent, fresh thinking, and innovation and also provide funding for them.” He said that India has a thriving startup environment and that many concepts generated there benefit from a sizable home market, which may have prevented them from reaching out to the rest of the globe as much as they could have.

“More possibilities are required for our ideas for Indian startups. For our Indian startup ideas to be able to reach out to the international markets, we need to have more possibilities. Silicon Valley is the only location that can truly help our ideas go worldwide. We understand that in the future, innovation and R&D will be the driving forces.”

In addressing the Indian diaspora, Goyal emphasised that the Indian government also recognises the need for more international involvement and said, “We are striving to bring together your offers from offshore and India’s competencies and capacities on shore.”

According to the Indian Minister, the goal is to move away from policy gridlock and toward more proactive involvement with the general public, as well as to increase policy certainty and predictability and match regulatory procedures more closely with what is occurring in more developed economies.

According to Goyal, “Technology and openness have significantly taken over, bringing honesty into the system and revolutionising the way Government functions in India.”

He said, “The Amrit Kaal till 2047 is going to be the defining time of India’s path towards becoming a developed country and take prosperity to every single individual dwelling in India.

He remarked, when discussing his contacts with the Indian diaspora in the US, “Engages like this lead to many fresh ideas and I am taking back quite a few from investors here that will assist to further speed up deployment of money supporting new innovation in India.”

Given the close ties between India and the rest of the world, the Indian diaspora occupies a special place.
In terms of business and people-to-people exchange, Goyal stated, “We look forward to this continuing endeavour and engagement to bridge India and the United States.”

The Union Minister for Commerce and Industry added that his trip to the US has given him a tremendous amount of new energy.

“I’m glad to observe the Indian diaspora’s ties to the homeland and their affection for the people and the nation back home. While being incredibly creative and professional, the Indian population here has preserved Indian culture and values, preserving India’s spirit “he added.
