According to Nicolas de Riviere, French ambassador to UN, United States has asked for a meeting of the UN Security Council to be conducted on September 7 in the afternoon.

During a briefing, Riviere stated, “Between now and then, next week, the issue of Ukraine will still be in the Council, with a discussion that should take place on Wednesday, the seventh in the afternoon, on forced displacements in Ukraine upon the request of the United States.”

This Wednesday’s meeting will come after one on Ukraine that was held on September 6 at Russia’s request and was centred on the circumstances at and around the Zaporizhzhia nuclear power facility.

France, which is co-presidening the UN Security Council in September, has expressed interest in talking about the situation in Ukraine.

Ukraine will now be covered in three different meetings in September, but it is anticipated that number will rise as governments often seek meetings all throughout the month in response to important events taking place on the ground.
