Aditya Thackeray, a minister from Maharashtra, stated today that the flood victims in Assam are left to fend for themselves while dissident MLA Eknath Shinde’s faction receives Rs 9 lakh a day in funding.
He emphasized the fact that the opposition is now backing a faction that is defecting from the ruling party for the first time. He said that several MLAs had been “forcefully” transported to Guwahati.
“Looking at the previous 2-4 days in #Maharshtra, it feels like those who left, departed for good,” Thackeray remarked on Sunday while speaking to Shiv Sena members in Mumbai.
“The whole country witnessed that the guy who did the most powerful job during #COVID19 had to leave his official house,” he said.
He further added, “Many people warned me that there will be several leaders, but none would compare to this CM. Why did the dissident MLAs leave the party and travel to Guwahati and Surat? There are several MLAs who appear to have been coerced into attending. We have contact with 10 to 15 MLAs that can attest to this.”
He said, “Thousands of dollars are being spent on our MLAs who were dragged there. The Opposition is now backing a faction that is defecting from the governing party for the first time.”
He said that many people had warned him that there will be many new leaders, but none would compare to Uddhav Thackeray. He interrogated opposition MLAs who left the party and travelled to Surat and Guwahati.
He continued to say, “There are several MLAs who appear as though they were made to attend. Approximately 10 to 15 MLAs are in contact with us and can attest to this”
He later informed the media persons “For our MLAs who were transported there without their will, thousands of dollars are being spent; Rs 9 lakhs each day. There are thousands of flood victims in the same Assam, and they are all on their own. First time the opposition is backing a faction defecting from the ruling party. “
After Minister Eknath Shinde travelled to Surat with a few MLAs and then to Guwahati where he claimed to have the backing of 38 MLAs of the party, gaining the two-thirds majority in the Shiv Sena, the faction war in the Shiv Sena set off the political unrest in Maharashtra.
