After a horrific video of them tormenting a transwoman couple went popular on social media, the police in Kazhugumalai detained two suspects. “The individuals, including the victims, have been identified. In this respect, a case has been filed and legal action is being taken ” stated Asra Garg, IG of Tamil Nadu South Zone.

The accused, who was observed beating and pestering the victims, is the subject of a police investigation, and legal action has been filed against him.

A 14-year-old Dalit kid was allegedly chained to a pole and severely beaten in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka earlier in another horrifying incident.

According to the authorities, the accused beat the victim after thinking he had committed stealing.

Ten persons have been charged under the SC/ST Act as a result of the incident.

“A case has been registered under IPC sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 147 (rioting), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 354 (assault to woman with intent to outrage modesty), 355 (assault to dishonour person), 341 (wrongful restraint), 448 (punishment for false mark), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 149 (prosecution of common object) and under sections 3(1)(r), 3(1)(s) and 3(1)(z) of the SC and ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act of 2015,” the police official said.
