A helicopter crashed at Raipur’s Swami Vivekanand Airport on Thursday night, killing two pilots during a “normal” training sortie.
Initial indications point to a technical breakdown as the cause of the disaster, according to the state authorities.
Authorities stated that “At roughly 9.10 p.m. tonight, a Chhattisgarh state chopper crashed at Raipur’s Swami Vivekanand Airport. It was an ordinary training mission. The incident appears to have been caused by a technological failure. Captains Gopal Krishna Panda and A P Shrivastava died as a result of their injuries sustained in the crash.”
To determine the actual cause, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and the Chhattisgarh Government will conduct a full technical inquiry.
Bhupesh Baghel, the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, expressed sincere sorrow for the deaths. He has requested that the bereaved families receive prompt assistance.
In a tweet, Baghel stated “I just got word that a state chopper had crashed at Raipur’s airport. Both of our pilots, Captain Panda and Captain Srivastava, died in this unfortunate accident. In this moment of loss, may God offer strength to his family members and peace to the departed soul.”
