Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, currently in judicial custody until April 15 in connection with the excise policy case, experienced a restless first night in his 14X8 feet cell at Delhi’s Tihar Jail.

According to prison officials, Kejriwal arrived at Tihar Jail at 4 pm on Monday and underwent a medical examination before being allocated his cell, where he is staying alone.

At the time of arrival, Arvind Kejriwal’s blood sugar level was recorded below 50, prompting doctors to prescribe medication for him. He has been lodged in jail number 2 and will be permitted to meet with his family today.

Throughout his stay, Kejriwal has been provided with essential amenities including a mattress, blankets, and two pillows. Despite the discomfort, he made do with sleeping on a cement platform at night and engaged in pacing within his cell.

Kejriwal’s low blood sugar levels persisted into the morning, prompting doctors to prescribe home-cooked meals for lunch and dinner until his health stabilizes. He began his day with meditation followed by tea and two biscuits.

For security purposes, two Tihar Jail Security personnel and a jail warder have been stationed outside his cell, while CCTV cameras monitor him continuously. Additionally, a quick reaction team has been deployed nearby.

As per his request, Kejriwal has been provided with three books – Ramayana, Mahabharata, and ‘How Prime Ministers Decide’ – and the religious locket he typically wears. In compliance with regulations, Kejriwal has submitted a list of six individuals he wishes to meet, which includes his wife, children, private secretary, and an AAP general secretary.
