Flash floods wreaked havoc on Jail Road and surrounding areas in Mandi city, turning streets into dangerous rivers in a matter of minutes. Torrential rainfall led to sudden water surges, with heavy rocks, mud, and debris crashing down from nearby hillsides. The force of the floodwaters swept away parked vehicles, broke down boundary walls, and damaged several homes in its path. Amidst the destruction and panic, the local community showed remarkable courage and unity. Residents came out of their homes, helping one another evacuate, rescuing trapped individuals, and guiding the elderly and children to safer ground. Flash floods hit Jail Road and nearby areas in Mandi city...

Mandi DC Apoorv Devgan says, “…The stretch of jail road has been affected by heavy rain. 3 people have died in the area near Jail Road. One woman is missing. The search operation by the police, NDRF and Home Guard teams is underway. The roads are also being cleared…Many vehicles have been piled up near the hospital. Casualties have been reported, along with that, many houses have been damaged…We have set up a relief camp in Vipasha Sadan. A cloudburst in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh triggered sudden flash floods, leading to the death of two people and leaving one person missing. Several others were rescued by emergency teams as water levels rose rapidly in residential areas. Rescue operations are underway.
