Ajay Devgn is gearing up for the release of ‘Maidaan’, one of the most ambitious films of his career. It marks his first collaboration with director Amit Sharma, best known for his work ‘Tevar’ and ‘Badhaai Ho’. In an interview with Indian express, the filmmaker said that he had some reservations about Devgn being the right choice for the role.

“I had never worked with him before, so I had my own doubts. You build an image in your mind of an actor and his image in my mind was of Singham,” he said.

Sharma added that he soon realised that these doubts were baseless as Devgn transformed into the character. He described the seasoned actor’s performance in ‘Maidaan’ as ‘incredible’ and praised him for adding depth to the role.

‘Maidaan’ is a biographical sports drama that features Devgn as Syed Abdul Rahim, one of the pioneers of Indian football, The trailer created a fair deal of buzz among fans as it had a distinct ‘Chak De’ feel and featured several inspiring moments.
