Arvind Kejriwal, the Chief Minister of Delhi, slammed the Gujarat government on Sunday for drug smuggling in the state.
He lashed out at the Gujarat government, saying, “You (government) are driving the country’s youth into darkness.”

“Who is bringing drugs on such a large scale in Gujarat?” he tweeted. Who is the owner of this company? Consider how many days you must have gone out without being caught. Is a large-scale drug trade possible without the collusion of powerful people? You are driving the country’s youth into the darkness.”

After Punjab police recovered 38 kg of heroin, Kejriwal tweeted this.
Notably, Punjab Police recovered 38 kg of heroin hidden in the toolbox of a truck arriving from Gujarat on Sunday and arrested two people, according to Director General of Police (Punjab) Gaurav Yadav.

According to the DGP, the two arrested individuals are a truck driver named Kulwinder Ram alias Kinda and his accomplice named Bittu, both of whom live in Balachaur, SBS Nagar, as well as two drug smugglers named Rajesh Kumar alias Sonu Khatri of Rakkara Dhahan and Som Nath alias Bikko of Karawar.

The truck has also been impounded by the police, he added.

Surinder Pal Singh Parmar, Inspector General of Police, Ludhiana Range, and Bhagirath Meena, Senior Superintendent of Police, Shahid Bhagat Singh Nagar, informed a joint press conference, “The police had received secret information that a drug smuggler identified as Rajesh Kumar, along with his accomplices Som Nath Bikko, Kulwinder Kinda, and Bittu, is engaged in the business of supplying large quantities of heroin in different areas.

Following this information, an FIR was filed on August 27 at the City Nawanshahr police station under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said, adding that a special nakabandi was held at the Mahalon Bypass in SBS Nagar.

“During the nakabandi, when the police party signalled the truck to stop, the truck driver Kulwinder Kinda tried to flee, but the police party caught him and Bittu and recovered 38 kg packet of heroin wrapped in a tarpaulin and concealed in the truck’s toolbox,” he said.

According to the SSP, the police are conducting raids on nab accused Rajesh Kumar and Som Nath, who will be arrested soon.

The accused, Rajesh Kumar alias Sonu Khatri, is a professional criminal facing over 19 counts of heinous crimes such as murder, bodily harm, illegal activities, forgery, violation of the NDPS Act, and violation of the Excise Act. While Kulwinder Kinda was convicted and sentenced to ten years in prison in an NDPS case filed at Nurmahal Police Station regarding the recovery of 3.45 Quintal Poppy Husk.
