The “Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Investigation,” which was announced on Friday, August 12, 2022, was given to up to 151 police officers from around the nation, including 28 women officers.

The top 15 CBI officials were chosen for the prize, followed by 11 Maharashtra Police employees, 10 each from Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh, and eight each from Kerala, Rajasthan, and West Bengal Police.

The award went to seven Bihar Police officers, six from Gujarat, Karnataka, and Delhi, and five each from Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), and the Narcotics Control Bureau.

Four people were picked from each of Assam, Haryana, and Odisha.

The ‘Union Home Minister’s Medal for Proficiency in Investigation’ was established in 2018 with the goal of promoting high professional standards of criminal investigation and recognising such excellence in probe.

Every year on August 12, the Home Ministry makes an announcement.
