As Congress leader Rahul Gandhi resumed the Kerala leg of the Bharat Jodo Yatra, the Bharatiya Janata Party president J P Nadda landed in Kochi on a two-day visit to the Southern Indian state of Kerala. He would participate part in a number of public events and party organisational gatherings in Tiruchirappalli, Kottayam, and Thiruvananthapuram.
At the Nedumbassery terminal of Cochin International Airport, he was welcomed by local BJP leaders. After the welcome ceremony at the airport, the BJP national president traveled to Chengamanad to attend the Mann Ki Baat event of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Srirangam Auditorium. He will later take part in the program honouring Pandit Deendayal Upadhyaya.
Nadda will participate in an interaction with the recipients of Central Government programs in Kottayam after attending these programs, and he’ll next pay a visit to the Sree Narayana Guru pilgrimage site. Before opening the BJP district office in Nagampadam, he would also plant seedlings along the banks of the Meenachil River. He will then go to Thiruvananthapuram.
In Thiruvananthapuram, Nadda will address the district-level Booth presidents and in-charges at the Uday Palace Convention Centre. He will also open the newly built District BJP Office in Thycaud, Thiruvananthapuram.
The party sees Nadda’s visit as a major step in expanding its influence among Kerala’s Christian population. The BJP has not yet won any seats in the Kerala legislature.
