According to local media, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf demonstrated against price increases, unemployment, load shedding, inflated electricity bills, and high taxes in Lahore.
As the protest procession travelled from Liberty Chowk to the Governor House on automobiles and motorcycles, Imran Khan’s supporters carried party flags, according to a local media station. Yasmin Rashid, the head of the PTI in Central Punjab, allegedly claimed that the Shehbaz Sharif-led “imported” administration had failed to provide the people with any help. She claimed that in order to pay their utility bills, the villagers were now had to sell their possessions.
As reported by a major publication, she said that “thieves and dacoits” were receiving assistance.
Sheikh Imtiaz, president of the PTI in Lahore, and Zubair Niazi, general secretary, both spoke at the gathering.
Along with PTI, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) also began a three-day referendum on Pakistan’s “unjust” electricity bill costs.
According to the media sources, JI Karachi president Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that his party’s referendum on energy bills that include “irrelevant and unfair” charges will represent the views of the people of the city. The JI will then adjust its approach in response.
After Friday prayers, he stated, the referendum will take place in front of the city’s mosques. He noted that in addition to taking place in public spaces like markets, schools, and other gathering areas, the three-day referendum will also be promoted online.
According to media sources, the JI leader stated that all social groups, including legal professionals, business owners, industrialists, and labourers, will be consulted on the referendum.
