Union Home Minister Amit Shah to Inaugurate the Bardowa Project in Assam on March 15

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the Bardowa Project in Assam’s Nagaon district on March 15, marking a significant development in the state’s cultural landscape. The project, situated in the birthplace of Mahapurusha Srimanta Sankaradeva, aims to foster art, culture, and spiritualism.

Assam Water Resources Minister Pijush Hazarika, who announced the inauguration on X, stated that the Home Minister would also address a public rally in Hojai following the inauguration ceremony. “Home Minister @AmitShah ji is scheduled to inaugurate the much-anticipated Bardowa Project on March 15,” Hazarika posted. He further added, “The Home Minister will then address a huge public rally in Hojai. Today, I visited the venue and held a preparatory meeting.”

The Bardowa Project, with an investment of Rs 188 crore, intends to develop Batadrava Than into a central hub for art, culture, and spirituality. Spanning an area of 165 bigha, the beautification project is part of the Assam government’s efforts to enrich the state’s cultural heritage.

This initiative follows closely after Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Kaziranga National Park, where he engaged with the park’s elephants and unveiled a 125-foot-high statue of Lachit Borphukan, the Ahom general who famously thwarted the Mughal empire’s advances into Assam. Modi’s visit, highlighted by his interactions at Kaziranga and the homage paid to Lachit Borphukan, underscores the BJP’s focus on Assam in the run-up to the Lok Sabha elections.

The inauguration of the Bardowa Project by Amit Shah is anticipated to further cement the BJP’s cultural and developmental agenda in Assam, emphasizing the party’s commitment to promoting the state’s rich heritage ahead of the critical election period.
