Amid nationwide protests staged against inflation, unemployment, and GST hike, at least 60, Congress MPs were detained by the police.

Home Minister Amit Shah called the protest in black clothes to the party’s ‘appeasement’ politics to express its resistance to the Ram temple foundation laid by Prime Minister Modi on this day in 2020.
He added that everybody has seen every protest by Congress in regular clothes but they deliberately chose black attire to stage Friday’s protests as PM Modi had tranquility resolved the 550-year dispute involving the Ram Janambhoomi in Ayodhya and laid the foundation stone on this day.

He further added that Congress is making excuses by raising questions about Enforcement Directorate (ED) and price rise.

Almost 60 Congress MPs who had been held by the police earlier in the day while participating in the party’s protest in Delhi over rising prices and unemployment were eventually freed after nearly six hours.

MPs detained and taken away from Vijay Chowk, outside AICC headquarters were Former Congress Chief Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, K C Venugopal, and Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury.
The Delhi Police claimed in a statement that 335 demonstrators, including 65 MPs, had been held under the Delhi Police Act to “keep peace and order” in the region. The police have informed the various competent authorities regarding the detention of MPs/MLAs.
