After the charge sheet was filed on Thursday, the three suspects in the murder of Ankita Bhandari—including the son of a BJP lawmaker who was expelled—refused to take narcotics and polygraph exams.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) did not explain why it wanted to conduct narco and polygraph tests after filing the charge sheet, according to the accused’s attorney testifying in court in Kotdwar, Uttarkhand. Following the defendant’s disagreement, Kotdwar Judicial Magistrate Kotdwar Bhavna Pandey set the next hearing date for January 3, 2023.
An earlier charge sheet against the three suspects in the murder of 19-year-old Ankita Bhandari was presented to the Kotdwar Judicial Court by the Uttarkhand Police on December 17.

He added that the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Unethical Business Prevention Act were also referenced in the chargesheet (IBPA).
“In accordance with IPC sections 302, 201, 120B, 354A, and 5(1)V of the Unethical Business Prevention Act, a chargesheet is being submitted to the court against the three defendants. In the aforementioned occurrence, the narcotics test and other issues are discussed,” he added.
According to the Uttarakhand Police, who had requested permission from the Kotdwar court to conduct polygraph and narcotics tests on each of the three suspects, the investigation into the murder of Ankita Bhandari is practically over as of December 4.
Prior to the hearing on Thursday, two of the three accused declined to take the test, while the third made a request to the Court of Judicial Magistrate Kotdwar, Uttarkhand, and received a refusal from all three.

After a fight, Pulkit Arya was detained on charges of pushing the woman into a canal. Ankit Gupta and Saurabh Bhaskar, two additional suspects, have also been taken into custody.
