In the Whitefield neighbourhood of Bengaluru, Karnataka, a 23-year-old was electrocuted and killed as rains continued to cause havoc. According to accounts, she was driving home from work yesterday night when her scooter lost control on a seriously flooded route.

Due to the strong current of water close to Mayura Bakery, the woman, who was later identified as Akhila, fetched something for balance. She tumbled down after unintentionally touching an electric pole nearby. On Monday night, at 9:30 pm, the event took place.

She was taken to the hospital, where her death was pronounced. Akhila formerly worked at a school’s administrative division. The deceased’s family has accused the Bangalore Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) of mishandling the electricity and other systems.

The Whitefield Police have opened an investigation and have filed a case. The woman was brought to the hospital, where sources said she passed away. The deceased was employed at a private school in the administrative division.
