The fifth day of Bharat Jodo Yatra, which is being led by Congressman Rahul Gandhi, saw the march’s arrival in Kerala.

The Congress leaders arrived at Parassala, a tiny town close to the Tamil Nadu and Kerala border. The 3,500 km march from Kanyakumari to Kashmir would take 150 days to complete and pass through up to 12 states.

The Yatra will depart from Kerala and travel through the state for the following 18 days before arriving in Karnataka on September 30. Before travelling farther north, it will spend 21 days in Karnataka. Every day, the Padyatra (march) will travel 25 kilometres.

Congress claims that “Bharat Jodo Yatra” is being organised in order to challenge the BJP-led Centre’s divisive policies and to make the nation’s citizens aware of the risks of economic inequality, social polarisation, and political centralization.

Senior Congress officials including Sonia Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra will attend the padayatras, rallies, and public meetings that are part of the yatra.

Notably, Rahul Gandhi is staying together with all of the party’s MPs, leaders, and workers. Some of the containers also include AC, sleeping mattresses, and restrooms. There will be numerous different climate and environmental conditions along the way. The preparations were created with the new location’s extreme heat and humidity in mind.

The assembly elections for this year’s elections were a disaster for the Congress, and the Yatra is considered as an effort to galvanise the party’s base for the forthcoming elections.

While this was going on, the BJP launched a scathing attack against Rahul Gandhi over a video of his “conversation” with controversial Catholic priest George Ponnaiah on Friday during a break in the Bharat Jodo Yatra, with party leaders speculating as to whether it was “Bharat Jodo with Bharat Todo icons.”

Retaliating, Congress charged BJP with making “mischievous falsehoods.”
