The revamped Rajpath and Central Vista lawns, which span from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate in central Delhi, will be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, 8 September. As a result, several routes will be closed to regular traffic on September 8 from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. Additionally, the section from India Gate to Man Singh Road will not be open to visitors.

The Central Government has decided to remove colonial ties and rename the Rajpath (Kingsway) as “Kartavya Path” in advance of the inauguration.

The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT) has been asked by the Delhi Police to issue a warning to the government ordering non-essential workers to work from home, encouraging the majority of employees to utilise public transportation and closing offices after lunch.

An entirely new triangular Parliament building is being built as part of the Central Vista redevelopment project. Also being developed to replace colonial-era structures are a new vice-enclave, the president’s a new prime minister’s dwelling, a new prime minister’s office, and a new central secretariat.

Additionally, according to reports, the renovated Central Vista Avenue along the Rajpath would feature state-of-the-art food stalls, red granite sidewalks with vegetation all around, vending zones, parking lots, and round-the-clock security. Food consumption, however, would not be permitted on the lawns between India Gate and Man Singh Road.
