Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose’s 28-foot monument and the renovated Central Vista were both dedicated on Thursday by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In his remarks at the occasion marking the opening of Kartavya Path, Prime Minister Modi advised attendees to visit and snap pictures at the recently renovated Central Vista and revealed that a drone show about Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose will be held there for the next three days.

The monument is a component of the Rs 13,450 crore Central Vista project of the Centre, which also includes new ministry buildings, a new Parliament building, and new offices and homes for the prime minister and vice president. The secretariat buildings that surround Rashtrapati Bhavan, North and South Blocks, will be transformed into museums.

A 280 metric tonne monolithic block of granite was used to chisel the black granite monument.
The statue was carved out of the granite block that was chosen for it over the course of more than two months after it was carried to Delhi from Telangana.

According to sources, Modi also spoke with some of the employees engaged in Central Vista avenue’s reconstruction and informed them that they would be invited to the Republic Day celebration.

The prime minister also strolled by the exhibit at India Gate that shows how Central Vista Avenue has changed over the past nine decades.

Among those present at the ceremony were Union ministers Hardeep Singh Puri, G Kishan Reddy, Arjun Ram Meghwal, Meenakshi Lekhi, and Kaushal Kishore.
