In a statement, the Airport Commissionerate announced that the Mumbai Customs Department confiscated a total of over 15.89 kg of gold, valued at approximately 8.07 crore, across thirteen separate cases within three days. The department reported, “From February 27 to March 1, Mumbai Customs Zone-III, Airport Commissionerate, seized over 15.89 kg of gold valued at 8.07 Cr across 13 different cases,” as indicated in a post on X.

The seized gold was found concealed in various locations, including within concealed clothes, on passengers’ bodies, and in the corner piping of a check-in bag. Notably, in a previous operation from February 18 to 24, the Airport Commissionerate, Mumbai Customs Zone-III, had confiscated over eight kg of gold, valued at around Rs 4 crores, along with five iPhones in eight distinct cases. The concealed gold was discovered in the frame of a check-in bag, a box of crockery, articles of clothing worn by passengers, and a handbag.
