The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) of Nagaland has announced Dr. Chumben Murry as its consensus candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The decision was made during a meeting of the NDPP Parliamentary Board held at its headquarters in Kohima, chaired by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and co-chaired by NDPP President Chingwang Konyak.

The board urged all sections of the population and political parties to continue supporting the People’s Democratic Alliance (PDA) government and its chosen candidate in the forthcoming polls.

In a unanimous decision, the board awarded the party ticket to Dr. Chumben Murry for the lone parliamentary seat of Nagaland.

Acknowledging the support from various political parties and leaders within the Nagaland government, the board expressed gratitude to its alliance partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and party national president JP Nadda, for their continued support and positive alliance spirit.

The meeting also discussed preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections and emphasized the importance of being well-prepared to face the challenges ahead.

Dr. Chumben Murry, the incumbent Member of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly from the 38 Wokha Assembly Constituency and Advisor for Law and Justice, was chosen as the party’s candidate. Dr. Murry, who had opted out of the Nagaland Assembly Election 2023, currently serves as an Advisor to Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio.
