PM Modi to inaugurate the 26th National Youth Festival Today

The 26th edition of the National Youth Festival, which will be held till January 16 at Hubballi, is being organised by the Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

Union Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Anurag Thakur said that more than 30,000 youth from across the country would participate in the inaugural function of the National Youth Festival. The National Youth Festival is organized every year on January 12 to mark the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the National Youth Festival on January 12 in Hubli, Karnataka. The festival will continue till January 16. Union Minister Anurag Thakur said many competitions would also be organized during this period.

He said the country is celebrating the ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’. We hope that the youth will play an important role in the country’s development apart from being empowered. Thakur said that the festival included five traditional sports of India, namely, Mallakhamb, Yogasana, Kalaripayattu, Thang Ta and Gatka, so that people get to know about them and they can become national and international sports in future.

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai informed that youth representatives from 28 states and eight union territories would participate in the National Youth Festival to showcase their talent. Various cultural and sports activities will take place in the five-day event. He said that the National Youth Festival is being organized in North Karnataka for the first time. This will help the youth to come forward in all fields.
