Journalists Threat Case: Police Conducts Searches Across Multiple Locations in J-K

Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted searches in many sites around three districts in the Union Territory on Thursday morning.

As part of its investigation into a case filed with the State Investigative Agency in connection with an “online journalists threat case,” Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted searches in many sites around three districts in the Union Territory on Thursday morning.

According to Srinagar Police, the searches conducted today are in response to leads found during searches conducted a few days earlier in the same case. The districts of Pulwama, Badgam, and Srinagar are the locations of the searches.

“Multiple places in the districts of Srinagar, Badgam, and Pulwama are being searched in relation to the “online journalists threat” case. This comes after leads from searches conducted a few days earlier in the same case, “Srinagar Police tweeted.

Earlier on November 19, Srinagar Police conducted simultaneous searches at multiple sites in Kashmir after a threat made by a designated terrorist organisation against journalists based in Kashmir.

The four to five-person police team conducted simultaneous searches at twelve different locations throughout the valley, including the homes of wanted individuals like Sajjad Gul and Mukhtar Baba, as well as current members of the terrorist group LeT (TRF) and other suspects in the districts of Srinagar, Anantnag, and Kulgam.

According to the police, a First Information Report (FIR) was filed at Sherghari police station in accordance with the applicable legal provisions against the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF), for publishing and disseminating direct threat letters to Kashmiri journalists and reporters online.

“The premises which were raided and searched belong to Mohd Rafi at Nigeen, Khalid Gul at Anantnag, Rashid Maqbool at Lal Bazar, Momin Gulzar at Eidgah, Basit Dar at Kulgam, Sajjad Kralyari at Rainawari, Gowhar Geelani at Soura, Qazi Shibli at Anantnag, Sajjad Sheikh @Sajjad Gul at HMT Srinagar, Mukhtar Baba at Nowgam, Waseem Khalid at Rawalpora and Adil Pandit at Khanyar Srinagar,” the police said.
