The protest of wrestlers at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar is continuously taking a political form. National General Secretary of Congress Priyanka Gandhi has also tweeted about the wrestlers’ protest and demanded action after the investigation.

Taking to Twitter, Priyanka wrote, “Our players are the pride of the country. They increase the country’s prestige through their performance at the world level. The players have made serious allegations of exploitation against the Wrestling Federation and its President. The voice of these players Should be heard. Appropriate action should be taken after probing the allegations.”

On Wednesday, 30 Indian wrestlers sat on a dharna at Jantar Mantar in Delhi. These include big players like Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat. These players have made serious allegations against the Wrestling Federation of India and its President, Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Bajrang said that those running the wrestling association do not know anything about the game. We are not even given coaches and threatened for opposing it. At the same time, Vinesh Phogat said that the President of the association, Brij Bhushan Singh, has sexually abused many players. She said that the close ones of the Speaker exploit the girls. Male coaches also exploit girls as well as female coaches.

Brij Bhushan Singh has been the President of the Indian Hockey Federation since 2011. In 2019, he won the election for the third time on this post. He has been an MP for six consecutive terms. Presently he is the BJP MP from the Kaiserganj Lok Sabha seat.
