In reaction to the murder of BJP politician Sonali Phogat, Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant stated on Monday that a secret report had been forwarded to Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and that the chargesheet will be filed shortly.

“We’ve sent the confidential report to Haryana CM. I am satisfied with the investigation done by our police team. Five people have been arrested. Soon chargesheet will be filed,” Goa CM said. On sealing Curlies Beach Shack in Anjuna, where Sonali Phogat partied hours before her death on August 23, the Chief Minister said, “We have been given instructions to seal it. So as per DGP’s instructions, it has been sealed.”

A team of Goa Police led by police inspector Theron D’Costa and PSI Francis will leave for Haryana today for the purpose of further investigation in the Sonali Phogat murder case, informed Shobhit Saksena, Superintendent of Police, North Goa.

Earlier on Monday, Sawant stated that the Sonali Phogat murder investigation will be moved to the Central Bureau of Investigation if necessary (CBI).

Sonali Phogat, 42, died on August 23 at the St Anthony Hospital in Anjuna, North Goa. A post-mortem examination found a blunt force damage on her body, prompting the Goa Police to file a murder charge.

Sonali Phogat was forcefully drugged by her two companions, according to Goa Police, who have since been detained after being listed as defendants in the case.

The two suspects, Sudhir Sangwan and Sukhwinder Singh, have been apprehended, and additional investigations are underway, according to the Goa Police.
