Seven new districts are to be added to the state bringing the total to 30 districts.

Currently, West Bengal has 23 districts, and the new seven districts will be Behrampur, Bishnupur, Ichhemati, Jangipur, Ranaghat, and Sunderban. One district will come from the Basirhat region.

Adding to this, The CM will be introducing new faces on Wednesday who will be handling departments like Consumer affairs, Panchayat, Public Health Engineering, and Self- help groups as it is difficult for her to govern these departments alone.

Four to five new faces will be inducted into the party that will take their oath, on Wednesday evening. The cabinet reshuffling is also in the pipeline for the same day. The cabinet reshuffle comes amid Partha Chatterjee being behind the bars, and leaders like Subrata Mukherjee and Sadhan Pande have passed away, it is about time for the West Bengal CM to introduce new faces and have a cabinet reshuffle. Though she said, none of the existing departments will be dropped.

Reacting to this Amit Malviya, BJP National convener of the IT cell said, the reshuffle is just a new tactic by Mamta Banerjee to divert the attention from the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) scam. She must elucidate how the state knee-deep drenched in debt is getting money to not just introduce new districts but to run them. He also added, that adding new faces won’t wash away tint as long as members like Paresh Adhikari are still in her cabinet.

Amid all these developments, Opposition leader Suvendhu Adhikari met Union Home Minister Amit Shah at the parliament on Tuesday.
